YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ THIS ;(
From the desk of Mantas,
Somewhere deep in Europe.
Dear Ball Hard’s Den Reader,
Data suggests that these “entrepreneurial” letters I scribble down receive the lowest readership out of all the content I produce.
Discouraging?
Not really.
As long as there is one soul reading - as long as my story motivates, moves, and inspires this one soul - I feel obligated.
Now, you probably see me as a guy making a living off OldSchool Runescape - selling the dream of ballin’ out in the game.
Whilst Runescape definitely makes up a part of what Ball Hard stands for, it’s just a piece in a puzzle.
It all started in 2012, when I was still in high school - living that high life you know.
Partying. Drinking. Rebelling. Wasting my time.
But one day - still hungover - I woke up determined to lead a different life.
To make something out of myself.
It’s hard to put into words how sudden and out-of-nowhere determination and certainty entered my being. Imagine getting struck by lightning on a clear and sunny day. That is how I felt.
And so I made a decision to follow the footsteps of Kobe Bryant - to pursue my childhood dream - to campaign for a professional basketball career.
(that’s another form of Ball Hard - going hard on the wooden floor; going after your dreams despite odds stacked against you)
For the next two years I did nothing but work out. Study the science of strength and conditioning. And apply theory to practice.
I never made it to the PROS though - the final nail in the coffin was a severe ankle sprain in 2014, that’s when my dad presented me with a godfather offer. He said - “You either start putting food on your table or get out of the house.”
I was devastated at that time, but now when I look back, I am glad he did what he did.
It was the right choice. My potential as a professional basketball player was hindicapped. Even if I had access to Lebron’s trainers and facilities, I would have never developed into a world class player. And wordclass is the only thing I aim at whenever I do something.
(that’s another meaning of BALL HARD)
So that was the end of Ball Hard the basketball player, and the beginning of Ball Hard the entrepreneur.
The point of the story is this.
Every role model of mine - and I bet yours too - share the same trait.
They go all in.
Kobe Bryant. Mac Miller. Eugene Schwartz.
This is the mode of living I get the meaning and fulfillment from. Whenever I slip off, I feel like shit.
Gotta get back to the grind now so when it’s all said and done my name rests next to those three above.
To Your OSRS - And IRL - Gainz,
Mantas
